About Super Cheap Smoke Alarms: we’re a Queensland business set up to help families get working, up-to-date smoke alarms without breaking the budget. Early warning is what gives people time to get out of a house fire, and that only happens when smoke alarms are working. We sell photoelectric, interconnected alarms from RED Smoke Alarms and Emerald Alarms, and deliver them across Australia.
About Super Cheap Smoke Alarms: why we started
We know that upgrading smoke alarms isn’t always cheap, especially when a whole house needs new ones at once. So we decided to make it easier for as many families as possible to upgrade, at an affordable, competitive price.
That matters more now than ever. The Queensland Government says that by 1 January 2027, all existing private homes, townhouses, units and manufactured homes in Queensland must have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms. Many homes still have older alarms, and our job is to make the switch simple.

About Super Cheap Smoke Alarms: what we sell
We specialise in wireless interconnected smoke alarms: a reliable, DIY-friendly way to protect your home. All our smoke alarms comply with Australian Standard AS 3786:2014. Our range includes:
- RED Smoke Alarms: the R10RF wireless interconnected alarm, the R10RFP Professional, the R240RC 240V hardwired alarm and the RWB2 wireless base, plus heat alarms and carbon monoxide alarms. See the RED Professional range.
- Emerald Alarms: the EVO10RF wireless interconnected alarm. See the Emerald range.
Multi-packs come with a free remote controller and magnetic mounting plates, so you can fit out a whole home in one order and test every alarm from the floor.
Why photoelectric and interconnected
Queensland’s rules are clear about the type of alarm a home needs. Each required alarm must be photoelectric, must not contain an ionisation sensor, must comply with AS 3786:2014, and must be interconnected so all the alarms sound together.
Interconnection is the part that makes the biggest practical difference. If a fire starts at one end of the house, the alarms at the other end sound at the same moment, so people asleep in a far bedroom hear the warning straight away. The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) puts it simply: interconnected alarms give you more time to escape.
Wireless or hardwired: what you can do yourself
QFD says smoke alarms are powered either by a non-removable battery or by mains power, and that affects who can fit them.
- Wireless alarms have a non-removable 10-year battery and connect to each other without wiring. You can install them yourself.
- Hardwired alarms connect to mains power and must be installed by a qualified electrician. If your current alarms are hardwired, the replacements must be hardwired too.
That’s why we focus on wireless interconnected systems: for many homes they’re the most direct path to meeting the 2027 rule. If your home is hardwired, we stock 240V hardwired alarms for your electrician to fit.
Warranty
Every alarm we sell is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. RED Smoke Alarms covers its alarms for 10 years from the date code on the alarm. Emerald Alarms covers its alarms for up to 10 years from the date code. The date code is printed on each alarm, so keep a note of it with your receipt.
Delivery and payment
We send orders by Australia Post anywhere in Australia:
- Standard delivery: 4 to 7 business days, $14.95
- Express delivery: 1 to 3 days, $19.95
- Free standard delivery on orders of $200 or more.
Prices include GST. You can pay by card, PayPal, Klarna or Link.
